Fingerless mittens pattern

Sorry for the delay! About the fingerless mittens pattern:

I used Angora Alize 2 strands first time, now I will use Red Heart Margareta or Mohair 2 strands, 50 g / 300 yds per skein (you need a medium weight yarn), and a 5 mm (H/8) crochet hook.

Level: Beginners intermediate. 2-4 hours project, so I hope it isn’t too late for last minute gifts:D

ch = chain

st(s) = stitch(es)

sl st = slip stitch

sc = single crochet

dc = double crochet

shell = 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc in the same st

Chain 30, join to form a ring (try not to twist chain)

R1: ch 3, dc in the 4th ch from hook and in each ch around. Join in the 3rd ch from the beginning ch 3.

Work in rounds, but joining.

R2-R7: 1 dc in each stitch around.

R8: ch 3, 2 dc in the same st, sc in the second st, * 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc in the 3rd st (shell made it), sc in the 3rd st*; repeat *_* all around, in the last st work 3 dc, ch 1 and join in the 3rd ch from the beginning ch 3. (5 shells)

R9: ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1, *3 dc in the sc from the previous round, sc in the next ch from the previous round (in the top of the shell)*; repeat *_* all around and join with sl st in the beginning ch 1.

R10: ch 3, 2 dc in the same st, sc in the top of the next shell, *3dc, ch 1, 3 dc in the next sc, sc in the top of the next shell)*; repeat *_* all around, in the last st work 3 dc, ch 1, join with sl st in the 3rd ch from the beginning ch 3.

R11: repeat R9

R12:ch 9, sc in the top of the next shell, *3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc in the next sc, sc in the top of the next shell*; repeat *_* all around, join with sl st in the 3rd ch from the beginning ch 3.

R13: ch 1, sc in the 3rd ch, *3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc in the next sc, sc in the top of the next shell*; repeat *_* all around, join with sl st in the first sc (the one made on chain).

R14, 15, 16, 17 repeat R10+R9 (in this order).

Fasten off and cut tail.

For the thumb: join yarn with sl st in the first ch from the ch 9 and work 1 sc in each ch, and 3 sc in shell; join with sl st. next round: ch 3, 1 dc in each st, join with sl st in the 3rd ch from the beginning ch 3. Fasten off and cut your tail (if it is too large, skip few chains, work like 1 sc, skip 1 ch, 1 sc…).

For convertible mittens:

Stop at round 15:

Round 16: ch 3, 1 dc in each next 14 sts; ch 15, join in the 3rd ch from the beginning ch 3.

R 17:  ch 3, 1 dc in each st, join with sl st in the 3rd ch from the beginning ch 3.

R 18: ch 3,  skip 1 st, 1 dc in the second st and in each next 12 sts (13 dc), 2 dc tog ( decrease), 1 dc in each next 12 sts.

R19: ch 3, 2 dc tog in the next 2 sts, 1 dc in each next 2 sts, *2 dc tog, 1 dc in each next 2 sts*, repeat all around, join with sl st in the 3rd ch from the beginning ch 3.

R20, 21 repeat R 19

Fasten off and sew with your tail in the top.

Edging for the inside part (the one with ch 15): ch 1,* skip 1 st, 2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc in the next st, skip 1 st, sc in the next st*; repeat, finish with sl st in the front side, fasten off and cut your tail.
